Preparation of (S)-tert-butyl 2-methyl-4-(5-methyl-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)piperazine-1-carboxylate. The reaction was quenched by the addition of water (50 mL) at 25 C. The resulting mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (3 x 50 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine (50 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and the solids were filtered out. The filtrate was concentrated under vacuum.
