A mixture of (S)-tert-butyl 2-methylpiperazine-1- carboxylate (1.42 g, 7.09 mmol), 1-fluoro-4-nitrobenzene(1 g, 7.09 mmol) and potassium carbonate (1.47 g, 10.6 mmol) in DMF (6 mL) was heated at 50 C for 20 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and diluted with water (50 mL) .
