The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and then was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane-ethyl acetate) to obtain tert-butyl (3S)-4-(3-ethoxy-3-oxopropyl)-3-(methoxymethyl)piperazine-1-carboxylate (444 mg) as an oil.
