a N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-1-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine To a solution of 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine (5.20 g, 40 mmol) and triethylamine (6 mL 43 mmol), in 1,4-dioxane (100 mL) was added slowly di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (8.72 g, 40 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h.
