The organic layer was separated, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated in vacuo to give 4-carbamoylmethyl-3,3-dimethyl- piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester as a cream solid. 4-Carbamoylmethyl-3,3- dimethyl-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester was subsequently BOC-deprotected by using the general method to give the title compound as a white solid (0.43 g, 97 %).
