To a stirred solution of tert-butyl 4-carbamothioylpiperazine-1-carboxylate (synthesized according to Example 5, Step 1, 2 g, 13.75 mmol) in dioxane (20 mL), triethyl amine(1.7 mL, 12.24 mmol) and 1-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoro acetone (3.2 g, 16.5 mmol) were added and stirred at 90 C for 3 h. The completion of the reaction was monitored by TLC. The reaction mixture was quenched with water (10 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2 x 25 mL). The organic layer was separated, dried over anhydrous Na2504, concentrated under vacuum and was used as such for next step.
